Plamuk The Four-Month-Old Vulture Left the Zeleni Balkani’ Wildlife Rescue Center

*
Today Plamuk, the second youngling of our pair of Griffon Vultures, turned four months old and the time has come for him to live independently.

After he was seen leaving the nest several times in the last week, looking for food around the cage, we found that Plamuk is now doing well with flying and can be moved to an adaptation aviary high in the mountains of “Sinite kamani” NP, where he can acclimatize with wildlife. Fortunately, his sister, who has been moved there a month ago, as well as dozens of other vultures from the colony, was waiting for him there.
He underwent all the mandatory medical examinations and was thoroughly prepared for the trip by the team of the Rescue Center of Green Balkans. For now, he will live indoors in the aviary for at least a few months, and when the time comes to be released, he will meet the wild griffon and black vultures released as part of a project “Bright future for black vulture” LIFE14 NAT/BG/000649.

Once again, we want to thank Ekaterina Ivanova and Plamen Noninski, for choosing Plamak as their godfather and supporting us in his care!
