The Bearded Vulture Balkan, hatched in the Wildlife Rescue Centre of Green Balkans will roam in skies of Spain

The Bearded Vulture Balkan, hatched in the Wildlife Rescue Centre of Green Balkans this year was shipped to its new motherland – Spain.

It will be released in Andalucia, as a part of the Bearded Vulture restoration programme within the European Endangered Species Programme, coordinated by our friends from VCF. Our very pair is a part of this programme too.

The first stop of our chick was the Verein Eulen- und Greifvogelschutz Centre in Austria, where the bird was welcomed by the coordinator of the programme – Dr. Hans Frey.

We would like to remind you that this is the second generation and the third chick of the only Bearded Vulture pair in Bulgaria, found in the Wildlife Rescue Centre of Green Balkans. Last year the pair had two male chicks, which stayed within the programme for captive breeding in Spain and France.

You can see the release of our chick in Spain HERE.

So, we would like to wish best of luck to our chick, hoping to one day see him flying free!
