The past few days at the Green Balkans Wildlife Rescue Center have been dedicated to vultures and, especially to their medical care.
Since the breeding season is over and all fledglings left their nests, it’s time now for the regular medical check-ups. The health status of all four vulture species - Griffon, Black, Bearded and Egyptian Vultures kept at the Wildlife center was checked.
All the birds are part of the breeding program aiming to restore vulture’s population in Bulgaria. The last year’s success includes hatching and rearing 2 Bearded, 2 Egyptian and one Griffon chick.
The trainees, who are students in veterinary medicine in Trakia University, have assisted our Rescue Center team and concluded that all birds are in good condition.
Now vultures have a few months off from their parental responsibilities, and to make their stay at the Center more enjoyable, their aviaries were cleaned and repaired.
